IOWA CITY, Iowa – The UI Athletics Department is now accepting orders from fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes who are interested in following Coach Kirk Ferentz’s 2008 squad to Tampa for the 2009 Outback Bowl but are not season ticket customers or who live outside the state of Iowa.
“Sales remain brisk, but we’re hearing from some fans who are concerned about finalizing their travel plans and would appreciate an extra day or two of knowing that they have their ticket needs taken care of,” said Pam Finke, the UI’s director of ticket operations.
Season ticket holders have a deadline of Friday at 5 p.m. to place their ticket order if they want that order to be filled based on their ticket priority.
Fans interested in placing a ticket order can do so online at hawkeyesports.com, over the telephone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS, and over the counter at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa’s invitation to participate in the 2009 Outback Bowl marks the seventh bowl game for the Hawkeyes under Ferentz, a total that includes three appearances in the Outback Bowl in addition to two appearances in the Valero Alamo Bowl and one each in the FedEx Orange Bowl and the Capital One Bowl.
The Hawkeyes will play South Carolina of the Southeastern Conference in Tampa on New Year’s Day. The two teams have never played one another in football.
