2,000...and there's room for more!

Jan. 24, 2009

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Attention current University of Iowa students: Grab your roommate. Grab your girl friend. Grab the guy next to you. Come one, come all!

Come where? To Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Come when? Thursday (Jan. 29) at 6 p.m.

Come why? To cheer Coach Todd Lickliter’s Iowa Hawkeyes against Big Ten Conference rival Michigan State in a game that will be televised live by ESPN.

How much? Nothing. Nada. Free. But…if you’re a current UI student, don’t delay. There is a limited number of free tickets available.

The Iowa-Michigan State game is the second game of the 2008-09 college basketball season that UI students could attend for free. The first was Iowa’s non-conference game against intrastate rival Northern Iowa.

Student season ticket holders already received their ticket to this game. It was included in the sheet of game tickets they were provided prior to the start of the 2008-09 hoops season.

As of noon, Tuesday, more than 2,000 UI students have taken advantage of the offer to attend Thursdays’ game against Big Ten leader Michigan State for free. UI Athletics Department officials encourage those students who have not yet reserved theirs to do so while supplies last.

Current students who are not season ticket customers can print their free game ticket – while supplies last – by clicking: HERE.

Again, the UI Athletic Department is recommending to interested UI students that they don’t delay – there is a limited supply of free tickets available to current UI students and demand for tickets to this game to be very high.

The Spartans are currently sitting atop the Big Ten standings and are the highest ranking Big Ten team in the national polls. The Hawkeyes are coming off a thrilling overtime victory over Wisconsin.

Go Hawks!
