Kinnick, Fry, Jones & Long

Feb. 23, 2009

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The 1939 Heisman Trophy, 143 coaching victories, the greatest lineman Forest Evashevski ever coached and 10,461 passing yards.

According to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.com, those are qualifications for mention as the four most prominent (greatest?) football icons in the history of the University of Iowa.

Rittenberg, in his on-line feature titled, The Big Ten Mount Rushmore series, selected Nile Kinnick, Hayden Fry, Calvin Jones and Chuck Long as the four faces the Hawkeyes would chisel into the side of their own Mount Rushmore.
