IOWA CITY, Iowa — Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes are invited to officially close the book on the 2008 college football season by checking out the 2009 Outback Bowl trophy prior to Tuesday’s home game for Coach Todd Lickliter’s University of Iowa men’s basketball team against Ohio State in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Select members of the UI football team that defeated South Carolina in Tampa on New Year’s Day will visit with fans of the Hawkeyes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the south concourse of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Tipoff for the game between the Hawkeyes and the Buckeyes is set for shortly after 8 p.m. Tickets priced at $10 are each are available at the UI Athletics Ticket Office.
The Hawkeyes’ 31-10 victory over the Gamecocks in the 2009 Outback Bowl – Iowa’s fifth New Year’s Day bowl game under head Coach Kirk Ferentz – capped a 9-4 season for Iowa. Ferentz’s squad will begin preparations for the 2009 season on Mar. 25 when it stages the first of 15 spring practice sessions.
Iowa will open its 2009 season on Sept. 4 inside against Northern Iowa inside historic Kinnick Stadium. That game is one of seven home dates for the Hawkeyes, a slate that includes three non-conference games and four contests against Big Ten Conference opponents.
The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for season tickets from the general public, UI faculty and staff, and current UI students soon. You will receive an e-mail from the UI alerting you to that opportunity.
Go Hawk!
P.S. If you haven’t yet purchased your tickets to the first and second round games of the 2009 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship to be staged in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, Mar. 22, and Tuesday, Mar. 24, give it some serious consideration. Bluder’s Bunch appears poised to be one of the four teams invited to celebrate “March Madness” in Carver. Lisa and the Hawkeyes would really appreciate the energy you and other fans would give them in their quest to advance out of Iowa City to the round of 16.
