MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Hawkeye junior Michael Gilligan placed 11th on the men’s platform event at the 2009 Zone C NCAA Qualifier in Minneapolis, MN, Sunday. His 12-dive score of 635.60 included a prelim score of 309.10 and a finals score of 326.50. A total of five Hawkeye divers competed at the three-day meet, which is the final collegiate event of Iowa’s 2008-09 season.
Gilligan was the only Hawkeye to compete in all three individual events, placing 13th on one-meter (585.05 – 292.05, 293.00) and 20th on three-meter (292.35).
Also competing for the Hawkeyes were senior Drew DeLashmutt, juniors Deidre Freeman and Frank Van Dijkhuizen, and sophomore Veronica Rydze. Freeman placed 10th on the women’s one-meter board (504.35 – 243.10, 261.25) and 11th on three-meter (544.30 – 292.35, 251.95). Van Dijkhuizen placed 15th on the men’s one-meter (575.95 – 292.25, 283.70) and three-meter (646.00 – 313.10, 332.90) events. Rydze placed 18th on the women’s three-meter (509.15 – 243.90, 266.25) and 23rd on one-meter (228.15). DeLashmutt placed 21st on three-meter (263.95) and 25th on three-meter (270.85).
