WACO, TX — The Hawkeyes took sixth place overall after the second day of competition at the Baylor Spring Invitational today. All around, the team scores today were slightly higher than yesterday, but Iowa held strong to remain in the top 10 with a final team score of 939. Illinois State remained at the top of the team leader board with a final score of 927.
The Hawkeye senior duo tied for 10th individually; Tyrette Metzendorf and Becky Quinby carded 231 (+15) after shooting 80, 79, respectively, today. Sophomore Laura Cilek aided Iowa in their sixth place finish by shooting 241 (+25, T38), while freshman Chelsea Harris rounded out the scorecard for the Hawkeyes. Harris shot 83 today (244, +28) and tied for 44th overall. Sophomore Brianna Coopman (247, +31) shot 78 in the final round of the tournament.
Additionally, junior Alison Cavanaugh and freshman Ann Vrdolyak, who competed today as individuals, carded 242 and 253, respectively. Cavanaugh finished tied for 41st, while Vrdolyak finished 67th individually.
The Hawkeyes will return to action April 6-7, when they travel to Columbus, IN, to participate in the Indiana Invitational.
