Hawkeyes to Compete at Indiana Invitational

THIS WEEK — The Hawkeyes head to Indiana University to compete in the IU Invitational. The tournament, held at Otter Creek Golf Club, is slated to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. Live stats will be available throughout the tournament at golfstat.com and hawkeyesports.com.

THE COMPETITION — The 15-team field includes six Big Ten teams, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan in addition to Texas, UNLV, Iowa State, Augusta State, Illinois State, Ball State, Western Michigan, Marshall and Lipscomb.

LINEUP — The tentative lineup for the Hawkeyes will be seniors Tyrette Metzendorf and Becky Quinby, junior Alison Cavanaugh, sophomores Laura Cilek and Lauren Forbes and freshman Chelsea Harris. The official lineup will be determined by the coaches at a later date.

CO-BIG TEN GOLFERS OF THE WEEK — Following the Baylor Invitational, the Hawkeye senior golfers collected Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors. Becky Quinby and Tyrette Metzendorf tied for 10th individually after each carded a 231. This is the first Golfer of the Week award for Iowa this season.

HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford — Coach Crawford, “I feel like we are getting close. I am seeing some good things in practice, particularly in our short game. Indiana will be a good opportunity to apply what we have been working on. Our goal will be to play solid golf and to keep our scores consistent.”

LAST COMPETITION — The Hawkeyes posted their second-best finish this year at the Baylor Spring Invite, where they placed sixth in the team standings. Two Iowa golfers, Tyrette Metzendorf and Becky Quinby, tied for 10th individually and collected the Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week award because of their efforts.

NEXT COMPETITION — Iowa will compete at the Lady Buckeye Invite April 18-19. The tournament is the final regular season event before the team competes at the Big Ten Championships, scheduled for April 24-26 in West Lafayette, IN.
