43rd Golden Harvest Coming Fast

IOWA CITY, Iowa– The National I-Club, which provides recognition for contributors to the Hawkeye Fund and Iowa Scholarship Fund, will be hosting the 43rd annual Golden Harvest golf outing and dinner program on Saturday, July 25 in Iowa City.

The 4-person best-shot golf tournament will take place at Finkbine Golf Course, with shotgun starts scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The social hour, dinner and program will be at the Quality Inn & Suites Highlander Conference Center and will begin at 6 p.m.

An optional tour will be offered at 10:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. hosted by Assistant Wrestling Coach Terry Brands who will take guests behind the scenes of Iowa Wrestling and into the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex.

The evening program, featuring the Voice of the Hawkeyes, Gary Dolphin as master of ceremonies, will include the presentation of the National I-Club’s “Hawk of the Year”, “I-Club of the Year”, and “Volunteer of the Year” Awards.

Video highlights from the 2008 football season will be shown, and UI Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz will preview the 2009 season.

Price for the all-activities package is $115 and includes golf, lunch, optional tour, a Hawkeye souvenir, and the evening social hour, dinner and program. An “evening only” package is $30 and includes the optional tour, social, dinner and program.

The staging of the Golden Harvest marks the unofficial start of the college football season on the UI campus and among friends and fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes. The nationally ranked 2009 Iowa football team officially starts the new campaign Sept. 5 when it entertains Northern Iowa at 11 a.m. inside historic Kinnick Stadium in a game that will be televised live by the Big Ten Network.
