IOWA CITY, Iowa — Take it from 70,585 University of Iowa football fans: Watching a game at Kinnick Stadium is truly a treat on fall Saturdays. If you don’t believe them, read what Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.com has to say about the game-day experience in Iowa City.
“I loved my trip to Kinnick last November for the Penn State game, and the stadium is quickly becoming one of my favorites,” Rittenberg writes. “No Big Ten venue has better sightlines for fans, who are right on top of the field. Unlike the larger venues in the league, there really aren’t many lousy seats at Kinnick. Iowa fans always sell out the place, and the recent renovation brought some good upgrades.”
Fans will have seven opportunities to watch the Hawkeyes in Kinnick Stadium this fall, beginning with a Sept. 5 opener against Northern Iowa. Last season Iowa finished 9-4 overall and won the Outback Bowl with a 31-10 decision over South Carolina. UNI (12-3) advanced to the semifinals of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
Other games inside Kinnick Stadium will be played against Arizona (Sept. 19), Arkansas State (Oct. 3), Michigan (Oct. 10), Indiana (Oct. 31), Northwestern (Nov. 7) and Minnesota (Nov. 21).
