Black and Gold Scrimmage Scheduled For Saturday

Oct. 27, 2009

IOWA CITY — Fans can get a first glimpse of the 2009-10 Iowa men’s basketball team when it holds an open scrimmage Saturday in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The event is free to the public and will start approximately 30 minutes after the Iowa football game vs. Indiana, which is slated to start at 11 a.m. at Kinnick Stadium. All entrances to Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be open for admittance.

There will also be a post-event autograph session with the student-athletes.

“This event gives our loyal Hawkeye fans an opportunity to see our team in action after two weeks of full practice,” said third-year Head Coach Todd Lickliter. “This will allow our fans to get to know this year’s team while attending the scrimmage.”

Fans attending this “sneak peek” at the Iowa Hawkeyes will be invited to register to win tickets to select home basketball, wrestling and football games.

Iowa opens the 2009-10 campaign with an exhibition contest on Sunday, Nov. 8 (12:30 p.m.) against Marian University followed by the first official game of the season on Sunday, Nov. 15 against Texas-San Antonio (5 p.m.). Iowa’s 18-game regular season home schedule includes dates with nine Big Ten Conference opponents, Virginia Tech of the ACC and intrastate rival Drake.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office is currently accepting orders for season tickets. Fans can call 1-800-IA-HAWKS or visit the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
