Men Win In Madison

MADISON, WI – The University of Iowa men’s and women’s swimming team competed in the UW Natatorium Friday night. The men’s team defeated the Badgers 162-138. Both teams competed strong, with numerous first place finishes.

The men’s team was lead by Duncan Partridge and Paul Gordon. Partridge recorded first place finishes in the 50 Free (20.79) and 100 Free (45.66), while Gordan won the 200 Free (1:39.34) and 500 Free (4:36.77). The duo was also on the winning 400 Free Relay. Partridge, Jordan Huff, Ryan Phelan and Gordon posted a time of 3:03.24. Frank Van Dijkhuizen won the one meter and three meter diving events with scores of 326.48 and 333.75, respectively.

Katarina Tour was successful in the pool Friday. Tour took the individual title in the 100 Fly (56.82) and was second in the 100 Breast (1:05.96). Laura Mozdzen was the 200 Fly winner with a finishing time of 2:06.80. Christine Kuczek, Daniela Cubelic, Verity Hicks and Danielle Carty finished second in the 400 Free Relay (3:30.66).

The Hawkeyes are back in action in Iowa City on Oct. 23. The teams welcome Michigan State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee to the Field House Pool for the event.
