Nov. 1, 2009

IOWA CITY, IA — The University of Iowa field hockey team is the No. 4 seed in the 2009 Big Ten Tournament, the Big Ten Conference announced. The Hawkeyes will face fifth-seeded Michigan Thursday at 10 a.m. (CT) on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI.

Iowa and Michigan met earlier this season in the conference opener Sept. 25. The Black and Gold scored three second-half goals to defeat the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, MI, 3-2.

The winner will face regular season champion and top-seeded Michigan State Friday. That match is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. (CT) and will be televised by the Big Ten Network.

The Hawkeyes have won the last three conference tournaments and have won nine-straight tournament matches.
