Nov. 8, 2009

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa Hawkeyes, winners of nine of their first ten games in 2009, slipped in each of the three national polls released Sunday.

Iowa was the No. 10 team in the weekly Bowl Championship Series standings and remained the highest ranked Big Ten Conference team. Florida, Alabama and Texas ranked Nos. 1, 2 and three. Texas Christian and Cincinnati completed the top five.

The Hawkeyes’ opponent next week – Ohio State – was the BCS’s No. 11 team. Penn State (No. 19) and Wisconsin (No. 20) also were included in the BCS standings.

Iowa slipped to No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Kirk Ferentz’s squad travels to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. Iowa time date with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The winner of the game secures at least a share of the 2009 Big Ten Conference championship.
