Overall Statement…
“Again, we had a slow start tonight but we got it kicked into gear. A good win for our program, a win at home again, two in a row. A lot of young people again stepped up and had terrific performances for us. A lot of people have to play a lot of minutes, Morgan Johnson goes in early foul trouble and gave Gabby a chance. I thought Gabby stepped up to the opportunity. She shot the ball well, 6-for-10 from the field, with eight rebounds in that time. So that was nice to see. A lot of people shot the ball extremely well tonight, Kamille shot the ball well, and Jaime shot the ball well tonight. Fifty percent both of them shot from three point range. I thought it was good stuff, it was nice to see 21 assists too.”

On the freshmen’s mindset…
“I hope they are having fun. What an opportunity for a group of freshman to come in here and be able to log these kind of minutes right off the bat. I hope they are enjoying the experience. I hope it is a growing experience where they learn so much. It will be amazing what they can accomplish in their career if they really use this year not just to grow, but to get better, to enjoy the whole experience and just get so comfortable in an Iowa uniform. It reminds me so much of that group four years ago with Wendy and Kristi. They came in here and played so much as freshmen, and look at the career they had because of that. I think it is the same with this group.”

On Kamille’s progress…
“The funny thing is I expected it out of Kamille. I am still impressed with it, I don’t want to take anything away from it, but I fully expected her to have this kind of year. I guess I have that much faith in her and just knew what she was capable of doing. She has made great process, but heck, I thought she was a super super player last year too.”

Sophomore Kamille Wahlin
On how Kachine’s injury has affected her mind set…
“I knew when Kachine went down we were going to be losing a lot. She brings that intensity, and energy-that toughness. She’s constantly going after boards and never giving up. I knew that I would need to bring some energy and kind of pick up on the communication that she brings defensively and in practice.”

On shooting well…
“I feel like I have been in a pretty good rhythm. I have been getting my feet set and shooting the ball with more confidence. It helps, I think, as a team we are doing a better job at penetrating and getting at the rim but we are also looking for our shooters. So I have been getting open shots due to our penetration.”

Freshman Theairra Taylor
On starting her first game…
“I was really nervous at first. But after the first pass to Jaime it felt like it was practice again.”

Freshman Jaime Printy
On her progress this year…
“With everyone getting hurt, it was a good opportunity to step in there. We miss them a lot but we still have to keep moving. I am just trying to play with confidence and help the team. Each game just gets easier to be confident out there.”
