West Virginia 69, Iowa 66 – Postgame Notes

Iowa opened the Nugget Classic in Reno with a tough, 69-66 loss to West Virginia. Iowa is now 4-2 overall and 1-1 on the road.Trailing by three with 15 seconds left, Kamille Wahlin’s last-second three-pointer was blocked as time expired, giving West Virginia the comeback win.The Hawkeyes were led by Jaime Printy, who netted 17 points on 5-8 shooting, including 3-4 from three point and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Printy also had a team high eight assists and two steals, and tied for the team lead with six rebounds, along with sophomore Kelly Krei.Sophomore Hannah Draxten saw her first action of the season Friday against West Virginia, after being sidelined for the first five games with a herniated disc in her back. Draxten played five minutes and recorded one steal.Freshman Jaime Printy helped the Hawkeyes sprint out to an early lead, netting Iowa’s first eight points. Printy drained her first four shots from the field, including a perfect 3-3 from behind the three-point arc.Iowa shot a season-high .552 percent (16-29) from the field in the first half. The Hawkeyes also converted on .444 percent (4-9) of shots behind the arc in the first half, which is a season high. Iowa finished shooting a season high .500 (9-18) from distance.Iowa will now play Columbia in the consolation game at 7 p.m. (CT).
