Iowa State improves to 6-1 overall, while the Hawkeyes fall to 5-5 on the season. Iowa still leads the all-time series, 21-19.
Iowa State earns two points in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series, which it now leads, 8-7. The next event will be men’s basketball Friday night.
The Hawkeyes were led by freshman Jaime Printy, with 14 points. Freshman Morgan Johnson added her second-career double-double, with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Cyclones were led by Kelsey Bolte, who scored 26 points on 9-14 shooting, including 8-13 from behind the arc. Alison Lacey had a triple-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 13 assists.
The Hawkeyes did shoot better than Iowa State from the floor (.480-.452), from distance (.529-.471) and from the free throw line (1.000-.765).
Iowa State shot a blistering .471 from behind the arc, draining 16-34 from distance.
The Hawkeyes were a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. Thursday’s game marks the second time this season Iowa has been perfect from the line (16-16).
Iowa attempted a season-low 50 shots in the game.
The Hawkeyes will return to action Sunday, Dec. 20 at home vs. Drake at 1 p.m. That game will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Iowa will not play a game during the week next week due to finals week.
