IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team has added Danni Huss as a walk-on. Huss officially joined the team Thursday, and was in uniform for Iowa’s game at Ohio State.
Huss is a senior from Fort Dodge, IA, and most recently played junior college basketball at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge from 2006-08. Huss was a two-year starter and captain at ICCC, and was a two-time NJCAA all-region selection. She holds the ICCC record for free throw percentage (.811) and is second all-time in three-pointers made (133). Huss helped ICCC to the most wins in school history (29), and a No. 1 national ranking.
Huss was a multi-sport athlete in high school, earning 16 varsity letters in basketball, volleyball, softball track and tennis. She was a first team all-conference and all-district selection in basketball, and also earned 10 different all-conference, district or state awards in other sports. She was an all-state shortstop in softball, and holds school records or kills, blocks and aces in volleyball. On the basketball court, Huss owns school records for three pointers made in a single season and career, along with most points in a single game (31).
