Iowa defeated Indiana, 71-67 Thursday night in Bloomington. Iowa has now won five of its last six games and is 13-11 overall, 6-7 in Big Ten play. Indiana falls to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in conference action.
The Hawkeyes improve to 40-15 against the Hoosiers. Iowa is now 15-10 in games played in Bloomington.
Iowa was led by freshman Jaime Printy, who scored a career-high 28 points. Junior Kachine Alexander notched another double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Kelsey Cermak added 10 points. Indiana’s Jamie Braun had 20 points to lead the Hoosiers.
Junior Kachine Alexander collected her 11th double-double Thursday night at Indiana. Alexander scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. She now has 20 career double-doubles.
Alexander registered her double-double just 15:24 in the game. She grabbed her 10th rebound of the contest at the 4:43 mark in the first half. Alexander entered halftime with 14 of Iowa’s 32 points and 12 of its 28 rebounds.
Printy sparked Iowa in the second half, scoring 20 of her 28 points in the final 20 minutes. Printy scored 14-straight points for the Hawkeyes between the 10:41 and 4:05 mark in the second half.
Junior Kelsey Cermak scored double figures for the first time in her career Thursday night at Indiana. Cermak set new career-highs in points (10), field goals made (4) and field goals attempted (8).
Alexander played all 40 minutes at Indiana, while Jaime Printy played 38. In her first career start, freshman Trisha Nesbitt played a career-high 37 minutes. Nesbitt filled in for the injured Kamille Wahlin. Alexander, Printy and Nesbitt played all 20 minutes of the second half.
Iowa returns to action Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena vs. Illinois. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be televised live on KCRG-TV9.
