Northwestern 72, Iowa 66
Welsh-Ryan Arena – Evanston, IL

Northwestern defeated Iowa, 72-66, Sunday in Evanston. Iowa falls to 15-12 overall, and 8-8 in the Big Ten. Northwestern moves to 16-11 overall and 7-9 in conference play.

Sunday was Iowa’s first loss in four games, and is just its second loss in the last nine contests.

Iowa still leads the all-time series, 43-13. Iowa had won 17-straight against Northwestern before Sunday’s loss, which was Head Coach Lisa Bluder’s first loss to Northwestern while at Iowa.

Sunday was Iowa’s first loss in five games when wearing its pink uniforms.

The Hawkeyes were led by sophomore Kamille Wahlin, who scored 22 points on 9-18 shooting. Kachine Alexander added 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while playing the entire 40 minutes. Kelli Krei added 13 points and four rebounds. Northwestern was paced by Amy Jaeschke, who scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Kachine Alexander collected her 13th double-double of the season at Northwestern. Alexander scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She now has 22 career double-doubles.

Northwestern shot .600 from three-point range (9-15), while Iowa shot .364 (8-22).

With three assists at Northwestern, Jaime Printy moved into second place among Iowa freshmen in assists. Printy now has 83 assists, and passed Kristi Smith for second place. She trails Cara Consuegra (94) for first place.

The Hawkeyes return to action Thursday when they host Indiana at 7 p.m. Thursday will be Iowa’s final home regular season game, and will also be “Senior Night.”
