HURDLERS TOP BIG TEN, RANK NATIONALLY
Iowa sits at the top of the Big Ten performance lists for the 110 and 400-meter hurdles following this past weekend’s Tiger Track Classic at Auburn, AL. Freshman Jordan Mullen finished third at 14.06, which ranks 21st nationally and ties him for fifth all-time at Iowa. Senior Ray Varner placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at 51.39, 13th fastest time in the nation

WILLEY AMONG TOP IN THE NATION
Junior Steven Willey’s 400-meter dash performance of 46.31 at the Razorback Invitational on Mar. 27 ranks ninth in the nation, the highest national ranking of any Hawkeye this season. His mark leads the Big Ten and ranks fifth all-time at Iowa.

DEBUT DOMINATION ON THE FIELD
Many Hawkeye freshmen shined in their outdoor debuts April 2-3. Matt Byers placed second in the javelin toss at 222-0 (67.66m), which leads the Big Ten and places him 18th in the nation and fifth all-time at Iowa. Freshmen Tiffany Medenwaldt (10th, 160-11, 49.06m) and Majesty Tutson (14th, 156-9, 47.77m) made their outdoor collegiate debuts Friday, with Medenwaldt placing fourth in the Iowa record books and Tutson placing sixth. Kirsten Weismantle placed second in the pole vault (11-1 3/4, 3.40m) with a collegiate-best mark that ranks fourth all-time at Iowa. Freshman teammate Katie Truedson placed fifth at 10-8 (3.25m), a mark which is good enough to place her right behind Weismantle on the all-time (5th).
