Iowa Blanks Graceland

IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team was back in action this weekend. The Hawkeyes welcomed Graceland University to the Iowa Soccer Complex Saturday. Iowa blanked the visitors, 3-0.

Sophomore Alyssa Cosnek led Iowa’s attack with a goal and two assists. The Hawkeyes leading scorer in regular season play, Keli McLaughlin, also found the net for the Hawkeyes with an assist from Dana Dalrymple, and Amanda Marin rounded out the scoring with a goal of her own.

Stephanie Swanson, Kali Fireiesel and Emily Moran shared time in goal in the shutout.

Iowa hits the road this weekend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame fell to the national champions, North Carolina, in the semifinals of the 2009 NCAA Tournament last fall. The Irish finished the season 23-3-1, ranked fourth nationally. The game in South Bend, IN, is scheduled for April 17th.
