MADISON, WI – The University of Iowa women’s golf team concluded the first two rounds of the 2010 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships in 11th place. The defending champion, Purdue (571, -5), is currently in the lead after 36 holes.
Pacing the Hawkeyes (627, +51) through rainy conditions was Laura Cilek. The junior improved from a 78 in round one to a 76 the second. Cilek is currently tied for 35th (+10). Lauren Forbes competed as an individual and shot a team-low 74 the first round.
Three other Hawkeyes recorded lower scores the second round. Brianna Coopman (158, +14) went from an 81 to 77. Chelsea Harris (161, +17) carded an 81 to 80. Gigi DiGrazia (162, +18) improved from 82 to 80. Iowa will be back to the tee at 9 a.m. (CT) tomorrow for the start of the third round.
