New web site unveiled for UI football

June 3, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa — With excitement already soaring to unprecedented levels, the University of Iowa football program is unveiling another avenue to whet the appetite of its inspiring fan base.

An improved version of the gohawks.com website, a complement to the existing hawkeyesports.com, will go live at 11 a.m. (Iowa time) Friday, June 4, thanks primarily to the day-to-day diligence of LeVar Woods, administrative assistant for the Hawkeye football team.

“If you have never been to Iowa City or to a University of Iowa football game, you don’t know what you’ve been missing,” Woods said. “This is a one-stop web site to give people a snapshot of what it’s like to be part of the Hawkeye football program and its rich history.”

The new site is laden with Hawkeye videos and images of current coaches, players and staff. Primary points of interest include tabs designated for head coach Kirk Ferentz, coaches and staff, strength and conditioning, the city of Iowa City, Kinnick Stadium, the Big Ten Conference, former Hawkeyes in the National Football League, academics and the university and history and traditions.

There will also be a social media presence, allowing friends of the program to sign up for Facebook and Twitter.

“This is a way for our fans to have access and become more in-tune with the program,” Woods said. “It will also help us keep in better touch with our great, national fan base.”
