IOWA CITY, IA – – University of Iowa Head Men’s Tennis Coach Steve Houghton has announced the signings of two recruits. Jonas Dierckx and Jeroen Gortworst have both signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Iowa.

Dierckx, who hails from Lommel, Belgium, is ranked the No. 1 junior player in Belgium. He chose the Hawkeyes over a number of schools, including Oregon and William and Mary.

Gortworst, from Purmerend, The Netherlands, is ranked eighth in the Dutch national junior rankings. Gortworst chose Iowa over several schools, including Utah.

“Both Jonas and Jeroen have had a lot of success at the national level in two strong tennis countries,” said Houghton. “We have seen them play and are very confident they will make major contributions immediately.”
