IOWA CITY, Iowa —The University of Iowa women’s soccer team took on Penn State Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes created good opportunities, but were unable to stop a forceful Penn State offense. Iowa (7-5-2) fell 3-0.

The Nittany Lions found the net twice in the first half. The first was off a corner kick in the 26th minute. Julie Hubbard netted the second goal just a minute before half time with a hard angled shot deep into the right side of the net. Tani Costa scored for Penn State in the 81st minute to finalize the game.

“It was a tough weekend for us against two very opponents,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “Overall, I think when we look at the film from these games, we will see a lot of positives. Our goal now is to work to improve those this week in practice and make them even better, as well as work on some of the negatives.”

Iowa hits the road for a single game next weekend in Champaign, IL. The Hawkeyes will face the Illini at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
