Hawkeyes Climb Golf World/Nike Poll

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s golf team is ranked 11th in the most recent Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll. The Hawkeyes were previously ranked 19th with 163 points, but now sit in the 11th position with 228 points. The rankings combine resources from Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results will appear in the Nov. 1 issue of Golf World.

The Hawkeyes have claimed titles in three of their four tournaments this fall, including Golfweek’s Conference Challenge, the Fighting Irish Golf Classic and the Rod Myers/Duke Invitational. More impressively, Iowa has won its three tournaments by a combined margin of 26 strokes. Senior Vince India is leading the Hawkeye charge with a season scoring average of 70.9. The Deerfield, IL, native is ranked 33rd in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Iowa will close out its fall season at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate hosted by Baylor Nov. 1-2. The first and second rounds will be played consecutively on Monday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Tuesday’s final round will also begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Fans can follow the action live at golfstatresults.com.
