Two Times the (Basketball) Fun

Nov. 2, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A rare event will occur on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena: A college basketball doubleheader.

Due to an unexpected challenge related to scheduling in Peoria, Ill., — the home of Bradley University – the women’s basketball game between Lisa Bluder’s Iowa Hawkeyes and the Bradley Braves that had been scheduled to be played on the road was moved in August to Carver-Hawkeye Arena immediately in front of the Iowa men’s basketball team’s home game against Louisiana-Monroe.

So, the tipoff for the home season opener for Bluder’s Bunch is set for shortly after 5 p.m. in the Arena and, 30 minutes after that game’s final buzzer, Fran McCaffery’s squad will square off against the Eagles of ULM.

Fans who have a ticket to the women’s basketball game are invited to stay for the men’s game. Tickets to the event were included with the purchase of a season ticket to women’s basketball at no additional cost. Tickets at the door cost just $8 for adults with boys and girls high school age and younger admitted free.

At halftime of the women’s game, the UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin selling tickets for the men’s game. Those tickets cost $10 for adults with boys and girls high school age and younger admitted free.

Season ticket customers have first right to the seat that comes as a part of their purchase, e.g. a season ticket holder of women’s basketball who chooses to stay for the men’s game should provide the season ticket holder in men’s basketball access to their seat for the men’s game and, of course, vice-versa for the women’s game for the men’s basketball season ticket holder who takes advantage of the opportunity to cheer Bluder’s Bunch.

Either way, it’s a great opportunity to watch Fran’s squad if you’re a fan of Lisa’s team, and Lisa’s squad if you are a fan of Fran’s, so click HERE to purchase your game tickets in advance, or call the UI Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800 IA-HAWKS to make your purchase.

Go Hawks!

And…in honor of the doubleheader…here’s another: Go Hawks!
