Nov. 19, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa – – Hawkeye sophomore Jessica Barnett has been named to the 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I West All-Region Team. She was named to the second team.

Barnett, a native of North Vancouver, Canada, has started every game of her Hawkeye career. Earlier this year, she was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team and was a second team All-Big Ten selection. She started all 19 games last year as a freshman and was a main contributor on Iowa’s defensive penalty corner unit. This year, she led the Black and Gold in goals (seven), points (14) and game-winning goals (two).

“JB (Jessica Barnett) had a solid season,” said Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum. “She is a steady performer and a leader on this team. Her competitive nature and aggressive play allow her to have an impact on both sides of the ball. She represents the Hawkeyes well, and we look forward to her contributions the next two years.”

Iowa had three honorees in 2009. Forty-one Hawkeyes have been named Regional All-Americans under Griesbaum.
