IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Department of Athletics is inviting Hawkeye fans to save during the holidays and spend the afternoon with the Hawkeyes on “Black Friday.” Two UI teams are in action the day after Thanksgiving in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. At 1 p.m., Sharon Dingman’s Iowa volleyball squad will entertain three-time defending NCAA Champion Penn State. At 5:30 p.m., Fran McCaffery’s Iowa men’s basketball team will square off against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Fans shopping for “Black Friday” deals at the Coral Ridge Mall can stop by a remote ticket office in the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau Guest Welcome Center from 8 a.m.-Noon to purchase discounted tickets to Friday’s events. The UI is also offering FREE parking to both events.
Fans can also visit hawkeyesports.com for a 24-hour exclusive online promotion. Beginning Friday at 12 a.m., fans will receive $5 in “Hawkeye Dollars” to spend on concessions for every four tickets purchased to any remaining home game of the UI’s men’s basketball, women’s basketball and wrestling teams via the UI Athletics Ticket Office inside hawkeyesports.com.
