McNutt, Jr. Elects to Remain with Iowa Football for Senior Season

IOWA CITY, Iowa – – University of Iowa junior WR Marvin McNutt, Jr. will remain in school and compete for the Hawkeye football team as a senior in 2011. The announcement came Wednesday from McNutt, Jr. and Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz.

“I was very happy to learn this morning of Marvin’s intentions to finish his career at Iowa as a senior next fall,” said Ferentz. “Marvin has done some tremendous things for our team the past several years and we anticipate him enjoying a very productive year as both a player and team leader in his senior year.”

McNutt, Jr. (6-4, 215) is a native of St. Louis, MO (Hazelwood Central HS). He led the Hawkeyes in receptions (53) and receiving yards (861) in 2010. He had eight touchdown receptions and was named second team all-Big Ten by league coaches. His yardage ranks 10th best for a single season at Iowa. McNutt, Jr. was moved from quarterback to receiver earlier in his career. In two seasons he has 88 receptions for 1,546 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ranks 16th in career receiving yards and is tied for fourth in career touchdown receptions.

Iowa concluded the 2010 season with an 8-5 overall record following a 27-24 win over 12th-ranked Missouri in the Insight Bowl.
