IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team will host the first annual Meet the Hawks night Friday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. on the second level of the Paul W. Brechler Press Box inside Kinnick Stadium. Fans will have the opportunity to win great prizes and interact with both the coaches and student-athletes.

Fans have the chance to win a gymnastics “Season Ticket” package and kids can register to be the Kid Captain for Iowa’s meet against Michigan Saturday. The event will also include raffle drawings, t-shirt tosses, autographs and the unveiling of the 2011 Iowa women’s gymnastics team poster.

Head Coach Larissa Libby, along with assistant coaches Caleb Phillips and Linas Gaveika will address the crowd and give insight in to the 2011 season. Members of the Iowa gymnastics team will also be introduced and give a short presentation. Coaches and student-athletes will also take questions from the crowd.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer the opportunity to our fans to meet the team and staff, as well as provide an atmosphere for people to interact with us on a more personal level,” Libby said. “It comes at the perfect time, as we will complete against Michigan the following day. We are hopeful that fans, family and friends will feel compelled to come back and watch the student-athletes that they just had the opportunity to meet.”

Iowa will host Michigan Saturday at 5 p.m. inside the UI Field House in its first home event of the 2011 season.
