IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Big Ten Network will air both the University of Iowa men’s and women’s gymnastics meet in Champaign Saturday, as both teams take on Illinois in a co-ed meet.
The women’s event will be televised live on the Big Ten Network, beginning at 12 p.m. Mike Leiderman and Elise Ray will call the action, which will be broadcast in high definition.
The men’s event will air on a tape delay Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. (CT). The high-definition broadcast will feature John Roethlisberger and Rob Brown as commentators.
Both teams are coming off successful outings last weekend. The 15th-ranked Iowa women’s team defeated No. 7 ranked Michigan, 195.375-194.900. The 10th-ranked Hawkeye men’s team gave first-year head coach JD Reive his first home win, knocking off Illinois-Chicago, 342.000-329.300.
The Iowa women’s team will appear on the Big Ten Network one more time this season at the 2011 Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships. The BTN will air the event live, starting at 2 p.m. March 19.
The Hawkeye men’s team’s meet at Minnesota vs. Penn State and the Golden Gophers March 5 will be aired on a tape delay March 12 at 11 a.m. The 2011 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Championships will also air live April 1-2.
