Hawkeyes Conclude Session Two

IOWA CITY, Iowa– The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team competed in the second session of the Shamrock Invitational Saturday morning. . The meet is scored as a dual meet against all participating teams. Going into today’s session, the Hawkeyes trailed Notre Dame, Denver, Northwestern and Ohio State. The invitational will wrap-up later this afternoon in the final session.

The Hawkeyes kicked of the second session of the invitational with the 200 medley relay. Junior Daniela Cubelic, freshman Karolina Wartalowicz and seniors Katarina Tour and Caitie Polz teamed up for the event and posted a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:46.08.

Freshman Haley Gordon recorded a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.09. Wartalowicz finished 16th in the event and earned herself a new collegiate best time of 4:35.25.

Following the 400 IM, Tour finished 10th in the 100 fly with a time of 57.86. Tour went on to place fifth in the 100 breast (1:05.77). Cubelic grabbed another fifth-place finish for the Hawkeyes in the 100 back with a time of 57.23.

Finishing up the second session, the Hawkeyes claimed a fourth-place finish in the 800 free relay. Freshman Emily Hovren, senior Verity Hicks, freshmen Emily Christiansen and Aiste Dobrovolskaite posted a time of 7:39.86.
