IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s rowing team’s competition vs. Minnesota Saturday morning has been cancelled due to the forecasted cold and blustery conditions, along with unsafe competition conditions.
Iowa and Minnesota were scheduled to compete in six races at Lake Macbride Saturday morning, but cold weather and strong winds forced the cancellation.
“I had conversations with the Minnesota head coach and we decided this was in the best interest in terms of safety for the student-athletes,” Iowa Head Coach Mandi Kowal said. “We weighed all of our options, but the weather won’t allow us to move forward with competition.”
Iowa opened the spring season last weekend in Austin, Texas at the Longhorn Invitational. Iowa’s next scheduled is the San Diego Crew Classic April 2-3.
