GLENCOE, Ill. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team is in 11th place after three rounds at the Big Ten Championships. With a third round of 315 (+27), their best round of the tournament, the Hawkeyes own a team score of 949 (+85). Michigan State is in the lead with a three-round total of 891 (+27). Competition is being held on the par 72, 6,303-yard course at Northwestern’s Lake Shore Country Club.
Sophomore Kristi Cardwell is tied for 38th and leading the Black and Gold with a score of 235 (+19). With a stretch of seven pars to close out her third round, Cardwell finished Saturday with an 18-hole score of 79 (+7). Senior Laura Cilek fired four birdies in the third round and is tied for 41st. The Iowa City native turned in a 54-hole total of 236 (+20).
Junior Chelsea Harris also put together a strong finish Saturday, recording 12 holes at or under par in the third round. After an 18-hole score of 79 (+7), Harris is tied for 46th with a mark of 238 (+22). Senior Lauren Forbes is tied for 54th with a 54-hole total of 241 (+25) as senior Brianna Coopman (249, +33) is in 62nd place. Additionally, sophomore Gigi DiGrazia is in 63rd with a three-round total of 258 (+42).
The Big Ten Championships will conclude with a fourth and final round Sunday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. (CT). Fans can follow the action live at golfstatresults.com.
