TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Iowa divers Deidre Freeman and Veronica Rydze placed eighth in the women’s 3-meter synchronized event at the World Championships Trails. After three rounds of competition the duo earned a score of 778.68.
The pair advanced to the final round after placing 10th in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds with a score of 508.08. With their eighth-place finish, Freeman and Rydze have increased their chances of being invited to participate in the World Championships this July, which is one step closer to earning an opportunity to compete in the Olympic Trials for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
