IOWA CITY, Iowa — Head Coach Lisa Bluder has announced that sophomore Jade Rogers will undergo surgery Thursday to repair an injured left knee. Rogers will miss the entire 2011-12 season.
Rogers suffered a torn ACL in high school and has also had meniscus injuries during her time at Iowa. Thursday’s surgery will realign her left leg to help her knee heal.
“I’m disappointed to have to miss the upcoming season,” Rogers said. “Even though I have to sit out this year, I’m happy to get this injury resolved. It will help me come back healthier and stronger next year and will also improve my quality of life down the road.”
“We will miss having Jade in uniform this season,” Bluder said. “With this surgery, she will have an opportunity to return to competitive basketball. Her quality of life after her basketball career will also be much better.”
