The men’s squad will be led by senior Ryan Phelan, junior Jordan Huff and sophomore Kyle Noser. Phelan served as team co-captain last season and was Big Ten runner-up in the 50-free (19.75). Huff and Phelan were both members of the 400 free relay that placed 15th at the 2011 NCAA Championships and earned All-America honors. Noser had a breakthrough rookie season. Seniors Daniela Cubelic and Danielle Carty and sophomore Haley Gordon will represent the women’s squad. Cubelic was a team co-captain last season when she set the school record in the 100 back (54.32) that led off the record-setting 400 medley relay (3:41.87) at the Big Ten Championships. Carty’s best time in the 100 back (55.17) ranks third on Iowa’s top performers list, and she was captain alongside Cubelic last season. Gordon led the team in the 200 fly (2:03.35) and 400 IM (4:22.04) in 2010-11 and posted 18 top-three finishes.
