IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa gymnast Emma Willis has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the Big Ten office announced Monday.
In her first meet as a collegiate gymnast, Willis led the GymHawks with an eighth place finish in the all-around competition (38.950). The Sarnia, Ontario, native compiled top-10 finishes on vault (9.800) and floor (9.775), leading the GymHawks in both events. She also recorded a 9.775 on bars and a 9.600 on beam.
Willis and the GymHawks return to action Friday night against Michigan State. Competition will be held in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 7 p.m. (CT).
