IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery will take a look back at a memorable day in Carver-Hawkeye Arena history and ahead to the Iowa Hawkeyes date with the Northwestern Wildcats tonight when he sits down with Gary Dolphin at Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Café in Iowa City for another edition of Hawk Talk with Fran McCaffery tonight at 7 p.m.
Hawk Talk with Fran McCaffery is also online to subscribers of Hawkeye All-Access, the multi-media portal of hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
McCaffery’s squad used the energy provided by a celebration of the 1986-87 UI basketball team that advanced to the Elite 8 of the 1987 national championship to register a solid victory over Northwestern Saturday on Mediacom Court in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The win came days after the second victory of the season over the Minnesota Golden Gophers and gives Iowa momentum heading into Thursday’s game against Northwestern in Evanston.
The Hawkeyes will enter that contest eyeing an opportunity to pull even in Big Ten Conference play. Iowa currently is tied with Minnesota for eighth place with 5-6 records. Northwestern is 4-6 in Big Ten action.
