May 25, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior center James Ferentz has been named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List for the second straight year. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I college football.

Ferentz (6-2, 284) has started all 26 games over the last two seasons at center. The Iowa City native was on the Rimington Trophy preseason watch list in 2011 and was honorable mention All-Big Ten by league coaches and media. Earlier this week he was named to Phil Steele’s 2012 Preseason All-Big Ten team.

The former Iowa City HS prep is one of 50 players, including six Big Ten candidates, on this year’s Rimington list. Michigan’s David Molk won the award in 2011.

The Rimington Trophy winner will be honored at the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb., on January 12, 2013. The award is named after former Nebraska center Dave Rimington.
