CBS Sports to Air Women's Golf

IOWA CITY, Iowa — CBS Sports Network will air a one-hour recap of the 2012 Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Team Championship, presented by the National Golf Coaches Association, Wednesday at 9 p.m. (CT). University of Iowa senior Kristi Cardwell and sophomore Shelby Phillips teamed up for a third place finish at the event, held at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio July 31-Aug. 2.

The Hawkeye teammates finished one stroke out of second place just two strokes behind the winning team from Tennessee. The event paired teammates from over 40 Division I institutions in a three-day challenge consisting of alternate shot, best ball and team stroke play. Division II, Division III and NAIA schools also competed in the challenge.

The tournament began with 18 holes of alternate shot play and the Cardwell/Phillips duo carded a 73 (+1). Cardwell and Phillips followed with an impressive 67 (-5) in best ball play on day two.

Iowa’s team moved up the leaderboard in the final day during team stroke play, firing a combined score of 148 (+4) to finish tied for third.
