IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Cloe Lacasse has been named Forward of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer.com. The Hawkeye striker was one of five forwards in the nation to earn the weekly honor for her performance last week.
“It’s a nice award for Cloe and for our team, because any individual award means that the team is doing good things,” said UI head coach Ron Rainey. “It’s been a great start for the team, and a great start for Cloe. The new challenge now is to do that on a day in, day out basis as the season goes on.”
Lacasse scored two goals and added two assists in a pair of Hawkeye victories this week. Iowa defeated Loyola University Chicago, 4-0, Friday as Lacasse scored in the 20th minute and registered an assist eight minutes later on a Katie Nasenbenny goal. She would go on to repeat the feat on Sunday, scoring a goal in the 34th minute and tallying an assist on an Ashley Catrell goal in the 51st minute of a 4-0 Hawkeye victory at Northern Iowa.
Lacasse leads the Iowa attack with 13 points coming from five goals and three assists. She also leads the Big Ten in shots (20), shots per game (5.0), points (13), points per game (3.25), goals (5), goals per game (1.25) and assists (3).
Lacasse and the Hawkeyes return to the pitch on Friday for an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup with Iowa State. The Hawkeyes and Cyclones will meet at 7 p.m. at the ISU Soccer Complex.
