Hawkeyes Move Up to 10th in NFHCA Poll

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa field hockey team moved up to No. 10 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll. The Hawkeyes, who received 303 points, were previously 12th in the preseason rankings.

Iowa is one of two Big Ten Conference teams in the top 10 in the poll, and one of six in the rankings. Penn State is ranked eighth, followed by Iowa (10), Northwestern (11), Michigan (15), Michigan State (20) and Ohio State (23).

Ten Hawkeye opponents are in the top-25 of the rankings, including top-ranked North Carolina, who handed Iowa its lone defeat of the season on Aug. 26.

The Hawkeyes return to action Sept. 7, playing at No. 16 Stanford. Iowa will also square off against Pacific and UC Davis during its trip to the West Coast.
