IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s rowing team will host an open house and rowing clinic on March 10. The event is open to experienced high school rowers and non-experienced high school student-athletes.
The day will begin with an open house from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Athletes will receive a tour of the P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse facility and learn about becoming a part of the Hawkeye women’s rowing program. The event is free and is open to all high school athletes and their families. There will be a short presentation on the college recruiting process, as well as time for a Q & A session with the coaching staff and current rowers.
After the tour, athletes will be able to take part in a rowing clinic from 1-4 p.m. at the Beckwith Boathouse. The athletes will learn how to row from the University of Iowa women’s rowing coaching staff. No previous rowing experience is necessary. The coaching staff will teach the basics on the ergometer and in the rowing tank, and then progress to rowing on the Iowa River. Experienced rowers will receive advanced coaching from the Iowa rowing staff.
Admission for the clinic is $35. Lunch will be provided and parents are welcome at the boathouse.
