Dec. 11, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery will meet the media at 2 p.m. (CT) Wednesday to talk about Saturday’s Hy-Vee Big 4 Classic game against Northern Iowa.

The weekly briefing with local, regional and national media will be held in the Media Room inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and be available live from start to finish on Hawkeye All-Access, the multimedia portal inside hawkeyesports.com, the official worldwide website of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Saturday’s game is slated to begin at 1:31 p.m. (CT) in Wells Fargo Arena (14,606) in Des Moines. The game will be televised on the BTN with Eric Collins and Shon Morris calling the action.

The Panthers bring a 6-3 record into the contest. After losing three games in the Bahamas against Louisville, Stanford and Marquette, Northern Iowa has won three straight, including a 82-77 road triumph at George Mason on Dec. 8. The win snapped GMU’s 14-game home winning streak.

Iowa enters the weekend with an 8-2 overall record after downing Iowa State, 80-71, in an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series match-up Dec. 7. The Hawkeyes have won three straight following back-to-back losses against Wichita State and Virginia Tech.

The Hawkeyes hold a 33-9 advantage in the series over Northern Iowa, but the two squads have split the last 12 meetings. Saturday’s game in Des Moines will be the first-ever on a neutral floor.

In addition to live coverage of each of McCaffery’s weekly news conferences, subscribers to Hawkeye All-Access also have exclusive access to weekly visits with the media of UI women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder, and head football coach Kirk Ferentz, live and exclusive coverage of Ferentz’s, McCaffery’s and Bluder’s postgame news conference after home events, live and exclusive coverage of the weekly “Hawk Talk” radio shows of Iowa’s head football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball coaches, and the live play-by-play of every Iowa men’s basketball game featuring the Hawkeye Radio Network’s Gary Dolphin and Bobby Hansen and all football, women’s basketball and wrestling events.
