IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Iowa football program ranks tied for ninth in the nation with 10 former players on NFL playoff rosters.

Iowa tied for ninth in the nation with 25 former players on active NFL rosters this season. In addition, nine other Hawkeyes reside on practice squads or injured reserve.

Iowa ties for second in the Big Ten amongst NFL alumni on active rosters. Ohio State leads the way with 35, while the Hawkeyes and Michigan both have 25. Iowa has five former tight ends in the league, which equals USC and Stanford for the most.

The National Football League opened the playoffs with the Wild Card Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. A number of former Iowa Hawkeyes saw action with their respective teams.

Pat Angerer – LB – Indianapolis Colts: Angerer, the leading tackler for the Colts in 2011, recovered a fumble and totaled six tackles in the Colts 24-9 loss at Baltimore on Sunday.

Christian Ballard – DL – Minnesota Vikings: Ballard, one of a Big Ten-best six Hawkeyes drafted in 2011, recorded a sack in the Vikings loss at Green Bay on Saturday night.

Jordan Bernstine – DB – Washington Redskins: Bernstine was moved to the Redskins’ injured reserve list after an injury in the season opener. The Redskins fell to Seattle at home on Sunday, 24-14.

Bryan Bulaga – OL – Green Bay Packers: Bulaga has been placed on injured reserve. He is in his third season with Green Bay, and has made 33 career starts. Bulaga won a Super Bowl ring during his rookie season with the Packers in 2010. The Packers defeated the Vikings on Saturday night at home, 24-10.

Sean Considine – DB – Baltimore Ravens: Considine, who competed in all 16 games during the regular season, saw action in Baltimore’s 24-9 win over Indianapolis on Sunday. The 8th-year veteran recorded no statistics.

Mike Daniels – DL – Green Bay Packers: Daniels recorded a tackle in the Packers’ 24-10 win over Minnesota on Saturday night in his first career NFL playoff game.

A.J. Edds – LB – Indianapolis Colts: In his third year in the league, Edds is on the Colts’ injured reserve list. The Colts fell to the Ravens in Baltimore on Sunday, 24-9.

Adam Gettis – OL – Washington Redskins: Listed as second team right guard, Gettis did not see action as the Redskins fell to Seattle at home on Sunday, 24-14.

Chad Greenway – LB – Minnesota Vikings: The former Iowa All-American led the Vikings with 11 total tackles, including 10 solo stops, in the loss at Green Bay on Saturday night.

Seth Olsen – OL – Indianapolis Colts: Olsen saw action in the Colts’ 24-9 loss at Baltimore on Sunday. Olsen played in five games during the regular season. He started the first three, before suffering an injury that sidelined him until week 14. He made his fourth start of the season in week 14.

Shaun Prater – DB – Cincinnati Bengals: In his first year in the league, Prater is on the Bengals’ injured reserve list. The Bengals lost at Houston on Saturday, 19-13.

Marshal Yanda – OL – Baltimore Ravens: Yanda, named an AFC Pro Bowl starter for the second-straight season, started for the Ravens in their 24-9 win against the Colts on Sunday. He has made 73 career starts in six years for the Ravens.
