COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Iowa women’s golf team currently sits in tenth place at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, hosted by Ohio State University at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course. The Hawkeyes carded a two-round total of 631 (+55). Iowa fired a first round total of 317 (+29) and a second round total of 314 (+26).
Sophomore Shelby Phillips paced the Hawkeyes on Saturday, firing a 77 (+5) in her first round and a 75 (+3) in her second. Phillips drained six birdies in her two rounds. Phillips is in seventh place.
Sophomore Lauren English carded two identical rounds of 78 (+6) on Saturday. English shot an impressive 23 holes at or below par in her two rounds. English is tied for 22nd.
Senior Kristi Cardwell played two rounds of steady golf on Saturday posting a 79 (+7) in her first round and an 80 (+8) in her second. Cardwell collected 22 pars in her two rounds. Cardwell is tied for 41st.
Sophomore Nicole Rae put together two strong rounds on the first day of play, carding an 83 (+11) in her first round and then shaved two strokes in her second round to come in with an 81 (+9). Rae sunk four birdies in her second round. Rae is tied for 55th.
Freshman Briana Midkiff posted rounds of 84 (+12) and 86 (+14), carding 16 holes at par or better. Midkiff is tied for 63rd.
Senior Gigi DiGrazia posted rounds of 85 (+13) and 88 (+16) during her first day of play. DiGrazia is in 67th place.
Final round action will begin at 9 a.m. (CT) Sunday with a shotgun start.
