IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head men’s tennis coach Steve Houghton announced today that Nils Hallestrand, a high school senior from Danderyd, Sweden, has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis for the Hawkeyes beginning in 2013.
Hallestrand was a member of the Swedish national team and contributed to the Swedish Men’s Outdoor Team Championship. He chose Iowa over several top U.S. collegiate programs, including one top 20 school.
“Nils is a great recruiting catch for us,” said Houghton. “We have enjoyed tremendous success with our Swedish recruits over the years. Nils will be no exception. He will provide immediate help in both singles and doubles.”
