IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team will hold its annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Mediacom Court in Carver-Hawkeye Arena this Saturday, Aug. 24. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. and admission is free.
Hawkeye fans will have a chance to see the 2013 team in action for the first time at the scrimmage. Iowa volleyball schedule cards, magnets, key tags, and posters will be available at the match.

Iowa returns 15 letterwinners from the 2012 season, including kills leader Alex Lovell (382), digs leader Bethany Yeager (533), and assists leader Nikki Dailey (1,103). The trio earned starts in each match of the 2012 season. Senior Rachael Bedell, who was second in kills with 339, and junior Alessandra Dietz, who paced Iowa in blocks with 81, are also expected to have an impact on the court. Sixth-year head coach Sharon Dingman is also excited to have several athletes back on the court following season-ending injuries, including middles Erin Radke and Emily Yanny.
The Hawkeyes open the 2013 regular season at the Chanticleer Invitational in Conway, S.C. Iowa will take on Wofford on Friday, Aug. 30, and conclude the weekend against Youngstown State and host Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Aug. 31.
